THE excitement is building for Wellington teen British superstock 600 motorcycle rider Bradley Richman with the revised racing season fast approaching, writes Kerry Rawson.
You could feel the tension in the air as he met some of his fellow competitors for the first time at the recent BSB support class test at Silverstone on his Hel Performance Kawasaki.
And what a day it was. The Stock 600 shared the track with the more powerful Ducati Tri-options but this did not put off Bradley. Having never been to Silverstone before he sensibly followed a few riders round first to get a feel for the circuit and then just got faster and faster each session out on track. In his own words ‘wot a mega day’ on the Hel Performance Kawasaki.
He said: “I started off doing a 102.56 lap and I’ve managed to get down to a 59.647, which I am really happy with so far as I’m only about two seconds off the front stock 600 boys. So well chuffed as I’ve never been to Silverstone before – and these guys are rapid. Super happy with the Kawasaki and can’t wait to get back out again.”
With another BSB test day in a few days he won’t have to wait long. Then it’s full steam ahead for Round One at Donington Park on August 7-9, which will also now be open to spectators. You need to book in advance so get your tickets early and come along to support Bradley. We’ll see you there.
