A CRUCIAL road linking Wellington and Taunton has been closed after a car overturned.

Police were called to the site of the incident at 6.46am on Thursday, October 16, following reports about an overturned car on the A38 near Bradford-on-Tone.

Emergency services attended the scene and closed the road at its junctions with Silver Street and Sheppy’s Cider Farm. The driver of the car was taken to hospital, though the injuries they sustained are not thought to be life threatening or life changing.

Avon and Somerset Police have confirmed that the A38 will be closed for several hours as debris from the incident is cleared from the road.

A spokesperson confirmed: “We were called at 6.46am today (October 16) to a report that a car had overturned on the A38 near Bradford-on-Tone.

“Emergency services attended and closed the road between the junction with Silver Street and Sheppy's Cider Farm.

“The driver of the car was taken to hospital with injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening or life-changing.

“The road remains closed while debris is cleared from the road.”
