A BEEKEEPING taster session will be held at Heatherton Park, near Bradford-on-Tone, later this month.

Taunton Beekeepers are offering the chance to find out about honeybees and see inside a hive.

Event co-ordinator Julie Husband said: “We will be giving visitors an overview of what’s involved in keeping bees. They will have the chance to see inside a hive and experience the fascinating world of the honey bee first hand.”

Visitors will be given a talk at the teaching centre and afterwards, weather permitting, will be invited to kit up in bee suits to observe honeybees in the apiary. Julie added: “Beekeeping is a fascinating subject to study whether you’re thinking of keeping bees or just interested in observing nature and understanding how bees make honey.

“This is an ideal way to see if you would like to find out more before committing to a beginner’s course next year.”

The session is on Saturday, June 22, at 2pm. Protective clothing will be provided but people must take wellington boots. To book a place, priced £25, contact Julie Husband at taunton
