POPULAR councillor Andy Govier was in for a big surprise when he attended Wellington Football Club – it was his 50th birthday party.
Relatives and friends were lying in wait as he entered the club not realising his wife Jackie had organised the event without letting him know.
“I had no idea - it was a complete shock,” said Andy. “I must admit someone said something to me in the morning which I thought was funny,” he said. “But I didn’t think any more of it.
Andy, who has two grown-up daughters, added: “It is something I would not have organised myself. It was a smashing surprise.”
A former mayor of Wellington and Taunton Deane, Andy now works as a financial advisor for Vision. He went to Linden Infants, Beech Grove and Wellington Schools.
