People in Wellington today (Friday) and tomorrow should keep their eyes peeled for Archie – the scarecrow who builds bridges between generations to raise dementia awareness.

In normal times, the colourful scarecrow visits venues ranging from schools and care homes to businesses and services but Covid put them out of bounds.

Instead there is an Archie Trail in Wellington where 16 sites have Archies in their windows.

Along with the scarecrows there are letters that form one or two words – and there will be prizes for getting them right.

The competition runs until June 4 when prizes will be presented by Reminiscence Learning chief executive Fiona Mahoney.

Fiona will be in town today and tomorrow handing out cards bearing enlightening facts about Alzheimer’s disease – the most common type of dementia.
