YEAR 12 students who left Kingsmead in Wiveliscombe this summer and achieved the best ever GCSE results in the school were invited back for a Big Reunion evening.
Students were joined by parents, staff and governors to celebrate their individual and collective accomplishments and for the presentation of academic and sporting awards.
The evening began with a musical performance from Year 8 twins Reece and Olly Hale who sang Lego House by Ed Sheeran to the 240 guests.
Guest speaker Alice Bartholomew, a former Kingsmead student and now a primary school teacher in Norton Fitzwarren, spoke about her school memories and how her time in Kingsmead helped and equipped her on her journey towards becoming a teacher.
Sammie Magee was awarded the Flook Cup for best all-rounder and Isaac Orszag-Land was presented with the Peace Cup for his outstanding language learning and achievement of A* grades in both German and Spanish.
Somerset youth and community service development officer Jeff Brown presented Duke of Edinburgh certificates to the 11 students achieving a Bronze Award.
Ross Porter, leader of student support for the year group, said: “It was lovely to see the students together again to celebrate their successes and hear how they are progressing in their further education.”
