STRICTLY Come Dancing choreographer Jenny Thomas is coming to Wellington to give two masterclasses in dancing the Charleston.
Jenny will be helping to raise funds for the town’s Isambard Kingdom Brunel School (IKB), in Thomas Place, when she appears at the school on Saturday, May 13.
She will give a beginners’ class for people without any dance experience at all, followed by another session for those with previous experience.
The event is being organised by the IKB Friends and Community Group, one of whose members is a friend of Jenny.
Proceeds from the event will be put back into the school to benefit its pupils.
Headteacher Richard Healey said: “We are really looking forward to hosting this event.
“Whether you are a dance expert or you have two left feet, this event is open to everybody in the Wellington community to come along, get active, and engage with other dancers and learn some new skills.
“There is sure to be much fun and laughter along the way and we cannot wait to welcome those involved onto our site.”
Jenny, who has more than 35 years of professional dance experience, has worked in almost every genre including classical ballet, tap, and musical theatre, and is recognised as one of the world’s top choreographers in swing, Lindy hop, Charleston, and authentic jazz dances from the 1920s to 1950s.
Places can be reserved for the IKB event and more information obtained by emailing the organisers at [email protected].
