THE community-wide Hemyock village bear hunt returned this year to help raise money for the school’s Parents, Teachers and Friends Association.

The event was a great success and encouraged people of all ages from across the village to get involved.

There were 35 bear displays dotted all around the village and some very creative display names were entered this year.

The winners were Hot Bear Balloon, Teddy-Bear Wedding, Bearly There and Squeegee Clean Bear and highly commended was awarded to Bad Bear Cut, Greta ThunBearg, Hi-Bear-Nation and Bear Grylls.

Many local businesses donated prizes for the display winners as well as the entrants and many of the local community were out and about over the half term looking for the displays.

Special thanks goes to the Bear Trail in Cullompton, For Bake Sake Bakery, The Busy Bee in Tiverton, Wildwood Escot, River Dart Country Park, Seaton Jurassic, Seaton Tramway, Forestry Therapy and Tesco who all donated prizes for this event.

Nearly £300 was raised which will go towards buying some books for the school library. The PTFA received some fantastic feedback and we hope to run the event again next year.
