A COURT date has been set for a 44-year-old nurse from Wellington who has been accused of rape and engaging in sexual activity with a woman he was caring for whilst she was a patient at a mental health unit in Taunton.

Abdul Obanio, of Bulford, Wellington has pleaded not guilty to raping a woman between October 7, 2022 and March 18, 2023 and between February 24, 2023 and March 21, 2023.

The defendant has also pleaded not guilty to engaging in sexual activity with a woman under his care as a nurse between February 1 2023 and March 11 2023.

Obanio was in Taunton Crown Court on Thursday, February 19, for mention.

The trial will begin on July 6.
