A COURT date has been set for a 44-year-old nurse from Wellington who has been accused of rape and engaging in sexual activity with two women he was caring for whilst they were patients at a mental health unit in Taunton.

Abdul Obanio, of Wellington, has pleaded not guilty to rape between October 7, 2022 and March 18, 2023 and between February 24, 2023 and March 21, 2023.

The defendant has also pleaded not guilty to engaging in sexual activity with the women under his care as a nurse between February 1 2023 and March 11 2023.

Obanio appeared in Taunton Crown Court on Thursday, February 19. The trial was adjourned until June 14, 2027.
