HUNDREDS of items were repaired at Blackdown Hills Repair Café’s Big Fix event in Hemyock.

Some 62 volunteers attended with repairers handling 364 items. Out of these 289 items were repaired/fixed, 18 needed parts and advice was given, and 17 were taken off site to repair.

A total of 306 items were repaired/fixed and only 39 were not repairable or fixable.

A spokesperson for the event said: “The whole atmosphere was electric, everyone working together in great harmony. Volunteers were encouraged to come from across the area, not knowing each other but working and helping each other to a most achievable and satisfactory outcome.”

Visitors enjoyed the refreshments on offer including tea and coffee, home-made cakes, buns, sausage rolls, bacon butties, and at lunch home-made soup and bread rolls.
