In celebration of World Book Day last week, pupils at Rockwell Green Primary School now have more books to choose from, thanks to a leading housebuilder.

Bovis Homes has given £400 towards new books to promote reading for pleasure, the main drive for World Book Day, which is marked annually in more than 100 countries.

Headteacher at Rockwell Green Mike Berrisford said: “We are thankful to Bovis Homes for its generous donation as it has enabled us to purchase more high quality books for our children to enjoy. Reading is at the heart of our curriculum and is fundamental to the children being able to grow as learners.”

Bovis Homes sales and marketing director Emma Smith said: “We’re delighted to support Rockwell Green Primary School with a donation to mark World Book Day. During the last 12 months, children have had a challenging time – with many changes to their usual routine – but reading is somewhere they can still explore new worlds and meet new characters, so we’re pleased to be able to help in this small way. We hope the children will enjoy spending World Book Day reading some new books.”

Rockwell Green School is close to Bovis Homes’ Monument View development on the edge of Wellington, which has just launched. Work started on site in autumn and the development of 205 properties will feature a range of three, four and five bedroom homes, along with areas of green open space and an equipped play area.
