A MAJOR water leak will force the closure of North Street in Wellington this evening (Monday, January 12) while emergency repairs are carried out.

Wellington Town Council said the road will remain closed for the duration of the work, which coincides with the closure of the Chelston and Westpark roundabouts.

A council spokesperson added: “We do not yet have exact timings for the North Street closure this evening. Anyone needing to access the north side of the town is advised to use the usual diversion via Longforth Road and Victoria Street.”

Wessex Water are currently at the location of the major leak.

The Wellington Weekly understands the road will be closed from 6.30 pm Monday until 6 am on Tuesday with traffic diverted via Victoria Street.
