PUBLIC notices cover a range of applications, ranging from licensing applications for liqueur or entertainment to planning applications, roadworks and other works.
Their intention is to inform communities of the latest plans in their area and such applications are considered for approval or refusal by local authorities.
Here are some of the latest applications submitted to Somerset Council in Wellington
Verge collapse causes temporary road closure
A VERGE collapse has caused a road in the Blackdown Hills to temporarily close.
The road from Marsh to Keats Mill, Bishopwood will be closed for a maximum of 18 months, until July 4, 2027, to allow time for works.
Motorists are forbidden from driving or waiting on the affected roads.
Application to change vehicle license
ADLER & Allan Limited of Fleet Office, Rainham Logistics Centre, Ferry Lane South, South Industrial Estate, Rainham, Essex, RM13 9DB is applying to change an existing licence to add an operating centre to keep seven goods vehicles at Oneline Surveys, Compound 40, Foxmoor Business Park, Foxmoor Business Park Road, Wellington, Somerset, TA21 9RF.

Temporary Closure of Main Road and Williton To Bridgwater Road
MAIN Road and Wiliton to Bridgwater Road will be closed for eight hours on January 11.
This order will enable Openreach to carry out pole replacement and testing works. The Order became effective on September 5, 2025 and will remain in force for eighteen months. The works are expected to commence on January 11 between 8am and 4pm for a total of eight hours.
Temporary road closure in Wiveliscombe
SECTIONS of Style Road, Burges Lane and Golden Hill in Wiveliscombe will temporarily closed for 12 days.
The temporary road closures will allow Power On to carry out new gas supply works.
The order will become effective on January 21 and will remain in force for 18 months.
The works are expected to commence on January 26 and last until February 6.
Bridleway closed due to ‘likelihood of danger’
EXMOOR National Park Authority has made an order to prohibit walkers and cyclists from using a bridleway in Dunster.
The order has been made because of the likelihood of danger to the public using Public Bridleway WL7/9 due to a dangerous bridge.
The order came into force on December 19, 2025 and will remain for six months.
