BUILDERS merchant RGB Building Supplies, which has a branch in Wellington, is re-launching it Well Built Community Fund for another year.

The fund, launched in 2014, has supported 28 charities, schools, projects and community groups by giving £1,000 worth of building materials every other month.

RGB is inviting organisations in the Wellington area to get in touch for the first give-away of the new campaign and would like to hear from groups keen to improve part of their community. Examples could include a rundown outdoor space that deserves to be turned into a community garden or repairing a community building damaged in the winter’s storms.

Ed Hegarty, branch manager at RGB Plumbing & Heating Supplies in Wellington, said: “Our Well Built Community Fund has shown us how many fantastic charities and support groups there are in the area providing help for local people, and we’re delighted to be continuing this positive initiative.

“We want to hear from groups and charities which have maybe been ‘putting up’ with some damage, or out of date facilities, and would like £1,000 to spend at our branch to renovate the area.”

Groups, charities and schools can apply by emailing [email protected] and explaining how £1,000 worth of materials would help their project. Nominations can also be posted to RGB Community Fund, c/o PMW Communications, PO Box 167, Bideford, Devon EX39 9DU. The closing date for nominations is Sunday, April 28.

Three projects will be chosen to go through to a vote where the public will be asked to decide who will receive the donation of materials.

RGB will also be inviting groups to apply for £1,000 worth of decorating supplies, tools and building materials, timber and landscaping products, as well as £1,000 to help transform a kitchen or bathroom area, until February 2020,

In addition, in June, to celebrate the 30th give-away, RGB is holding a special Well Built Community Fund specifically for groups which help young people learn a trade.
