HE’S been living in a tent for five years but now he’s got his own flat and a new job. Paul Coleman, 59, was a familiar figure outside the convenience store in Wellington for a number of years selling the Big Issue in all weathers. But in early February he began work as a local taxi driver for Archie’s Cabs and says: “Things could not have worked out better for me. “I have settled into driving which I love,” he told me yesterday. “I’ve also moved into a flat in Kelway Road this week which I also love.” Paul says he did not necessarily dislike the outdoor life because ‘you can always keep warm if you have a good sleeping bag. But it’s not better than a flat.’ He wants to thank ‘everyone’ for all their help over the years, particularly in the past few months. He added: “I cannot thank them enough. I’m enjoying my new job which keeps me in contact with people. “Provided I can keep healthy, I’m hoping to do this for as long as I can.”
