A PARENT-teacher group on the Blackdown Hills is hoping to set up a village youth club in Churchinford.

Churchstanton Primary School’s parent-teacher association (PTA) has asked the parish council for help.

However, parish councillors said they were unable to set up a club themselves but would encourage anybody who had ‘the level of commitment that this would clearly require’.

They said they would support an application to the Churchstanton Community Fund to help set up and run the ‘very worthwhile activity’.

Councillors suggested the PTA could contact the local Young Farmers’ Club to explore the possibility of working together.

It was also suggested that neighbouring Upottery Parish Council might open up its club to children from the Churchstanton parish if the community fund was able to offer a financial incentive.
