A BUSINESSMAN failed to pay more than £50,000 in tax when he ran a kebab and pizza takeaway in Wellington for eight years.

Dede Ramazan Akbulut who ran Chic-O-Land on North Street failed to pay £52,975.35 in taxes from April 6, 2015 to April 5, 2023 following an investigation from HMRC.

Akbulut has been penalised £27,149.84 which he will have to pay on top of the £52,975.35 that he avoided paying.

In 2021, the landlord of Chic-O-Land, Norland Properties (Bristol) Ltd, terminated a lease agreement it had with Akbulut.

It said the agreement, dated June 2021, had been terminated under the provisions of one of the clauses in the lease and the premises had been re-entered.
