A FIRST-ever fund-raising week is being held next month as Wivey Cares celebrates its seventh anniersary.

The charity helps people whose lives are restricted by dealing with illness, medical conditions, or ‘just old age’.

Its team of experienced micro-providers give people physical, emotional, and mental support, helping to foster a sense of security and belonging.

Now, Wivey Cares has won backing from Big Give for its small charity week from June 23 to 29 during which each £1 raised locally will be matched up to £2,500.

Big Give is a charity which brings together larger donors, including philanthropists, foundations, and businesses, with the giving public and the charities which need them.

It has a vision to raise £1 billion for good causes by 2030 and has already supported more than 19,000 charity projects.

A Wivey Cares spokesperson said: “We hope that many residents are going to support us with their own fund-raising events to help us raise £2,500 in one week, the equivalent of one month’s running costs.

“Everything goes, be it small or large.

“We will provide admin support and other help, if needed, and your event is going to feature in our social media campaign.

“You may even get interviewed by 10 Radio, who are going to support us for the whole week.

“If you have any gifts or experiences that we can raffle or auction off, we would be very grateful to receive them.

“Online fund-raising campaigns are welcome, too.”

Wivey Cares will itself be hosting a ‘ Big Breakfast’ in Wiveliscombe Rugby Clubhouse from 9.30 am to 12 noon at the end of the fund-raising week, on June 29, for which it is hoping food producers in the 10 Parishes area will be able to help.
