Two Wellington sisters have retired after a combined almost 50 years’ service caring for the residents of Nynehead Court.

Jean Barrett began working at the home in 2001, five years after her sister Vi Pocock. The two ladies worked alongside each other and have now, aged in their 70s, decided to retire at the same time.

Jean and Vi were presented with bouquets of flowers to thank them for their long and dedicated service at the home.

Home Manager Joanne Fenn said, “Jean and Vi have cared for countless residents, both long-term and those just visiting for short breaks, during their long service.

"We are very grateful to them for their dedication and wish them a long and happy retirement. They are not the only family members at Nynehead Court, as we have often had members of the same family working here and often several generations – so Nynehead Court is a real family as well as a working one!”

The Nynehead Court Estate offers gracious retirement living for older people requiring residential care or close care housing.  Set in 18 acres of parkland, it is registered to provide residential care for 44 people within the Court and close care housing for 11 retirees/couples within the Mews.

Within the Court, the newly extended Mulberry Wing caters for those with memory impairment, or in need of greater stimulation, with a higher ratio of staff to residents.  At the other end of the spectrum, the 11 close care mews houses provide the opportunity to extend home ownership and live independently, safe in the knowledge that every level of care, support and security is available, when and if required.
