BOOKWORMS got together at Wellington Library on Monday afternoon for the launch of a new reading group.

The library services several reading groups and has special reservation rates for them but the idea for a library-based group came from a member of the Library Friends.

Typically reading group members meet once a month and are given a copy of a book to read. They then share their thoughts about what the book meant to them at the following month’s meeting – and take away another book.

A lot of groups, often with six to ten members, stage their meetings in members’ homes and between six and ten is an average size for a group.

At National Libraries Day on Saturday staff organised a coffee morning and visitors had the chance to talk about the services on offer there.

A Stitching Time event will be held on Wednesday, March 2, from 2pm when a drop-in group of ‘needle people’ will share ideas and skills and have the chance to support any teaching with library books.

Library staff are also planning another ‘Get To Know Your New Tablet session on Wednesday, February 24. The first one was very successful and this one is a response to request.
