A CHARITY quiz night raising money for Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance Service will be held at Rumwell Farm Shop.

The shop, located on the A38 between Wellington and Taunton, has been fundraising for the charity throughout the year, and is now hosting an ‘Autumn Quiz & Supper Evening’ today (Friday, October 24) starting at 7pm.

Alongside the quiz, guests will be able to enjoy a two course meal, including hunter’s chicken, lasagne, and a selection of desserts. Vegan options will also be available.

Tickets cost £23 per person for the dinner and include a £1 quiz entry fee, with all the proceeds going directly to Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance Service.

There will be a clothing bank at the venue that is owned by the air ambulance, while proceeds from each box of large eggs and bags of potatoes sold at Rumwell Farm Shop will also be donated.

During the evening there will also be a fundraising raffle with a selection of great prizes from the shop and its suppliers.

Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance is a charity that provides lifesaving, pre-hospital critical care, to patients in need.

Its team of highly skilled pilots, critical care practitioners, nurses, and doctors operate for 19 hours every day of the year in order to save lives.

The service is 95 per cent funded by charitable donations and fundraising efforts. Annually, it can be tasked with attending nearly 3,000 incidents, with each mission costing approximately £3,500.

Sophie Mitchell, partner at Rumwell Farm Shop, said: “If you’re a bit of a quiz buff or would simply like to have a great night out with friends and family, then please join us and test your brain power at our autumn quiz night. It promises to be a fun evening filled with lots of laughter.

“Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance is an amazing charity that saves lives daily. We are delighted to be supporting it this year through our quizzes and various other fundraising initiatives this year.

“We have one of the charity’s clothing banks onsite, so please come and drop off any unwanted clothing you may have, and we are donating proceeds from the sale of every box of our large own farm eggs to the charity, as well as from every bag of our homegrown potatoes.

“So, when you shop with us and buy eggs and potatoes you are supporting the charity too. Anyone keen to take part will need a maximum of eight people in their team.

“If you get the most answers right on the night, you’ll get to lift our much sought after and sparkly Rumwell Cup. The winning quiz team members will also each take home a £10 Rumwell voucher too.”

Charlotte Humber, supporter engagement officer for Somerset from Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance, added: “It’s wonderful Rumwell Farm Shop selected us as their 2025 Charity of the Year.

“This partnership represents a great opportunity for us to raise invaluable funds while also generating awareness of the lifesaving work that we do.”
