A PRESENTATION afternoon was held at the Rugby Club for Wellington in Bloom’s pre-schools and primary schools garden challenge.

Christmas Day swimmer believed drowned in Budleigh Salterton is former Wellington manEight pre-schools and two primary schools took part. They also submitted scrap books showing how they planted, watered and watched their tiny seeds grow into flowers or vegetables.
The standard was very high and all schools did extremely well. Three gold, four silver gilt and three silver certificates were awarded. All schools were presented with a voucher to spend on next year’s plants or seeds and two bags of bulbs.
Two speakers talked about wildlife in the garden.
St John’s Primary School won the Hedgehog Trophy for its bug-house ‘Bugingham Palace’ and Nynehead Under 5s Pre-school was awarded ‘Woody’, a wooden man for its nursery rhyme-themed garden.
A spokesperson said: “All pre-schools and schools should be very proud of their achievements.”
