TWO-HUNDRED people from local Anglican churches gathered for a special service to welcome Rt Rev Robert Mumbi.

Bishop Robert is bishop of the diocese of Luapula in northern Zambia.

The 13 parishes of the Wellington & District Team are linked with churches in Mwenda in his diocese.

The Anglican churches in Somerset and Zambia have a long history of working together and this is the 40th anniversary of the friendship.

Bishop Robert preached at the service. The following day, Bishop Robert and Joy spent the day in the countryside, including visits to Stawley school, a dairy farm, lunch in Ashbrittle and took part in Campfire church at Appley Pavilion.
