TWO Wiveliscombe women who found themselves ‘taking to the streets’ because they feel so concerned about the climate emergency are speaking in the town next Wednesday (February 26) and are keen to talk to other people about the issue.

Jan Boddington and Sara Dove, both in their 60s and friends for over 45 years, were inspired by the Radio 4 Listening Project to take action in response to the climate emergency, and to ‘share their story and have a conversation’.

The event, Climate Emergency – Despair or Hope, is being billed as a personal account and will be held in the town’s community centre at 7.30pm, hosted by Wiveliscombe Civic and Historical Society.

“We are not aiming to talk about scientific facts but rather our emotional response to the subject,” said Sara. “We are doing it because there is a climate emergency, people are concerned, and we wanted to share our emotional journey that we experienced and give others the opportunity to reflect on their own experience/response.”

The evening is aimed at ‘anyone and everyone’ but especially people who may not have given the subject much thought, or considered it to be relevant to their lives.
