A NEW Community Café is opening today (Wednesday) in Wiveliscombe which will allow people to come together and enjoy a chat and a refreshments.
The cafe is being based at the Hub Centre, formally the Base Youth Centre in Hartswell, and will provide local people with a chance to socialise and endeavour to resolve the issues facing their local community such as social isolation, lack of community space and things to do.
The staff team from In The Mix Project have put together a programme for people to get involved in and help develop the Community Café project.
The initiative is funded in part by Somerset Community Foundation, the National Lottery and the Jim Laker Fund and In The Mix is grateful for their support.
The launch of the community cafe will be held between 4-8pm with the last 30 minutes being retained for the group’s annual meeting. Members of the public are welcome to attend this.
Staff from the In The Mix Project will be offering refreshments throughout the night such as mince pies and hot chocolate.
Phil Saunders, of In The Mix Project, said: “We are looking forward to hosting everyone on December 18. It will be a great opportunity to network with some new people and further develop our work within our local community.”
