WELLINGTON Town Council agreed to the following cash grants at its monthly council meeting in Fore Street:
£750 to the Wellington Museum and Local History Society for annual rent which is paid to the council.
£1,200 to Wellington in Bloom towards the cost of its projects this year. Its work includes enhancing the town, including removing flyposting, picking up letter and encouraging residential floral displays.
Its aim was to improve the town environment to attract business, benefit residents and attract visitors.
£300 to Wellington Quakers towards funding the Celebration of Light 2017. This is to be held in the gardens of the Quaker Meeting House, High Street, in the last few weeks of the year around Christmas as it has in previous years.
£1,672 to Wellington Community Association towards the overall cost of replacement front and rear arched windows in the main hall at the centre.
The community centre has seen significant improvements in recent times and this has resulted in increased use by community groups and organisations.
At the beginning of the financial year the council made £15,000 available in its grants budget. Councillors were told grants already awarded this year totalled £2,500.
