COUNCILLORS have agreed that they should apply for grant funding to help Wellington ‘do its bit’ for the environment.

Somerset County Council announced in February that £1 million would be made available for city, town and parish councils to help local communities take positive action to become carbon neutral and mitigate the impacts of climate change.

Wellington Town Council agreed last week via a Zoom conference call to look at making a bid for up to £75,000.

Members of the council’s environment committee will look at this in more detail when they meet next week.
