A COUNCILLOR has hinted that he will remain on Wellington Town Council until Rockwell Green gets a new public bench.

Cllr Marcus Barr has been campaigning for a number of years for Rockwell Green to get a new bench but questions have arisen over where to put one without it becoming a possible location for anti-social behaviour.

The question of ’any news about the bench’ was asked by Cllr Barr at the town council meeting last week when town clerk Dave Farrow was going through his monthly report.

"I’m not wanting to stand again on this council at the next local elections in May," said Cllr Barr. "But if I don’t get my bench for Rockwell Green I will have to stand again! So there’s four months left to get it sorted."

And Mr Farrow quipped: "I’m almost tempted to delay getting the bench just in order to keep Cllr Barr on the council for another five years!"
