Court Fields School in Wellington is taking on more staff after it said the Year 7 cohort was "significantly oversubscribed."

The school is advertising for a new assistant headteacher, as it looks to expand their team of staff to meet demand as a result of "increasing student numbers."

In a tweet announcing the move, Court Fields said: "As a result of increasing student numbers, and our Year 7 cohort for September 2023 being significantly oversubscribed, we are looking to expand our staff team to include an Assistant Headteacher at this exciting time."

The advertisement is seeking a new full time assistant headteacher to join an "ambitious, committed and hardworking team of staff."

Alongside the new assistant head role, Court Fields are advertising a number of other vacancies, including for a PE teacher, English teacher, a head of department.

Headteacher Polly Matthews said: "We are obviously bound by the Admissions Code and the law, but we are very keen that all children who live in our catchment come to Court Fields.  We have, when asked by the LA, increased our numbers to accommodate additional students from our catchment.

"We would always like to hear from parents who are living in or considering living in the Wellington area, to show them around the school and discuss if we are able to accommodate their children.

"We are thrilled that there are more families than ever choosing Court Fields School for their children’s secondary education.

"It’s a reflection of the hard work that we have put in as a team of staff, students, parents and community to improve our school, and we look forward to continuing that improvement over the coming months and years."
