COURT Fields School, Wellington, Year 7 student Corbin Bate is in the winning frame in a national photography competition.
Corbin, 12, was Intermediate Age Group winner in the Rotary International (Great Britain and Ireland) Youth Photographer of the Year with his portfolio of three photographs on the theme ‘Reflections’.
Ten students from Wellington area schools entered the local competition in three age groups – Junior, Intermediate and Senior. The winning entries, assessed by judges from Wellington Camera Club, were then entered in the district competition, which Corbin won before going on to his national success.
Corbin, who won the district junior competition last year as a pupil at Beech Grove Primary School, has already upgraded his camera – and is thinking about other competitions and even a career where he can use his photographic skills.
Jasmin Dunn, from Nynehead, Oake & Bradford Primary School, won the Junior section at district level.
The local photographic competition is run by the Wellington Rotary Club, which last year welcomed entries from nine schools in the Wellington area. The theme for 2018 is ‘A Different Perspective’.
