STUDENTS at Court Fields School, Wellington, have enjoyed success at the Somerset School Games county finals.

The annual event at Millfield Senior School sees the best teams from their districts compete in sports such as athletics, rounders, tennis, swimming and badminton.

Court Fields sent a Year 7 girls rounders team, a Year 7 boys and a Year 10 boys athletics team.

The teams had proven their worth against local schools in the qualifying rounds.

The Year 10 boys had some good individual performances and finished 5th overall. The Year 7 boys did exceptionally well and finished 2nd overall with Max Edgecombe winning his sprint events and the relay team winning the 4 x 100m.

The Year 7 rounders team won all their games with exceptionally strong team work, particularly when fielding. They batted with confidence and avoided any close results.

India Davey was the school’s Player of the Tournament thanks to her consistency batting and fielding. The team have grown in confidence over the season and improved their tactical play, helping them finish in first place.
