PASSERS-BY outside the Methodist Church in Waterloo Road, Wellington, on Easter Sunday will see a colourful cross made from old Christmas trees and decorated with flowers.

Each Sunday during Lent one or two items related to the passion of Jesus are added to the cross. Then on Easter Sunday it is covered with chicken wire and decorated with multi-coloured flowers to symbolise the resurrection.

At the end of the service the cross is placed outside the church on the road.
