A SCOTSMAN who moved to Wellington after falling in love with the town has died.
Andrew John Parmenter lived at Oakfield Park, Wellington, with his family for many years.
However, he lost his decade long battle against dementia on Thursday, October 27.
He first visited Wellington at the end of the 70s before moving into a new house on the Oakfield Park estate where he lived for many years.
It was only because of his illness that he moved away from the town to be close to his family.
He leaves a widow Rose and daughter Jane, and sons Scott and David.
WWN sports writer Barry Knott remembers James from his pipe-smoking days when he enjoyed nothing better than to walk his dog and chat to people with their animals in the big field beside Oakfield Park.
Barry said: “I believe he retired early and loved to chat about almost anything. And his dog was never far away from him.”
