DOG owner Steven Cox has told of his horror at finding his Staffordshire bull terrier, Oscar, fighting for his life after being caught in a trap at Tonedale, Wellington.

Oscar, aged three, suffered injuries so hideous he had to have a hind leg amputated after being trapped in a snare in a field between Tonedale Mills and the railway line.

Now local dog owners who exercise their pets in the area have been warned to be on their guard.
