PARENTS across the Wellington area are being urged to 'be safe and wait' as the possibility of heavy snowfall tomorrow increases the risk of school buses not running.

Local schools are advising parents to have a stress free drive to work knowing their children have arrived safe at school and not to leave them alone expecting buses to arrive.

Last year, Somerset County Council had reports that children were left alone waiting for buses that could not make it through heavy snowfall or floods.

Somerset County Council has 8,200 tonnes of salt and crews for the fleet of 23 gritters are standing by. Most local parish and town councils are also well prepared to salt roads and paths.
