COMMUNITY transport provider Wivey Link has benefited from the generosity of two local groups.
The Loyal Vacation Lodge of the Wiveliscombe Masons has given £1,500 to Wiveliscombe Area Partnership, which manages the Community Office and Wivey Link, after a year of fundraising.
Worshipful master Maurice Sadler decided that during his year of office he would support the charity and raised the money mainly through two very successful events – a race night and a dinner-dance.
The money will go towards keeping Wivey Link’s cars on the road. Mr Sadler said: “Wivey Link is a good local cause and we have been pleased to support it this year”.
The Jim Laker Fund is well known to local people and raises funds for local groups. Its aim has always been to support community groups and charities, and this year has been no different.
Members of the Jim Laker committee decided to give Wivey Link £830, which covers the cost of tax for all the Wivey Link cars.
Wiveliscombe Area Partnership chairman Pauline Homeshaw said: “Everyone connected with WAP and Wivey Link is so grateful for the support of the Jim Laker Fund and Wiveliscombe Masonic Lodge.
“Without this giving, our job would be so much harder. We love the work we do as volunteers offering transport to those who haven’t any and every penny counts. We thank the Masons and the JLF very much indeed for their practical kindness.”
