THE annual Wellington Churches Together carol singing planned to be held on the lawn outside the United Reformed Church last Wednesday (December 13) was held in the church hall because of bad weather.

Just under 60 people turned up to hear the Wellington Silver Band (pictured right) lead the carol singing. The carols were interspersed with Christmas Bible readings given by Wellington Mayor Gary James, Chris Salter, Christine Disney and Charlie Sellick.

Pastor Bob House read a challenging Christmas poem written by a local Christian and Rev Zdzisiu Hendzel, the Wellington Methodist Minister, led a closing prayer.

John Salter, deputy moderator of Churches Together, co-ordinated the evening.

Andrew Harvey invited visitors to stay for mince pies and drinks the URC provided.
