People driving through the hamlet of Ford Street are causing a major headache for the residents – by littering the street and even driveways.
The main road is less than a mile long yet the amount of rubbish pictured here was collected in just two days - and it was around three weeks before it could be discarded.
Neil Dalton, who lives in Ford Street, said: “All my neighbours and I try to keep the hamlet looking tidy, even mowing the green because the local authority never has.
“But litter being dropped by irresponsible car drivers as they pass through is an increasing problem. Much of it is fast food packaging or drinks cans.

Opinion: Five pence sprouts are great, but spare a thought for your high street“As well as being untidy, it poses a threat to wildlife and cyclists – as I know from personal experience, trying to avoid debris.
“Litter is often dropped in driveway entrances. I very much applaud the recent recycling initiative but the knock-on effect is that more people seem to be discarding litter as they drive.”
And he added: “Sadly, littering is a national problem – but what can we do?”
