WELLINGTON School welcomed an auspicious guest when the Duke of Wellington popped in.
Arthur Charles Valerian Wellesley, 9th Duke of Wellington OBE DL came to Wellington to view the National Trust-owned Wellington Monument, which was designed to commemorate the 1st Duke of Wellington’s victory at the Battle of Waterloo.
The Duke toured the school with headmaster Henry Price and discussed the upgrade of the school’s Duke’s Building, opened by his father, the 8th Duke in 1982.
The building will be completely re-developed to provide additional library facilities, study spaces and increased social areas for students.
It will add to the ongoing site development programme which has included the recently opened new all-weather pitch.
