A LOCAL school has been shortlisted for a prestigious careers award.

Finalists for the The Independent Schools Awards for Student Careers will be announced on Tuesday, September 9.

A spokesperson for the Wellington School said: “Wellington School is absolutely thrilled to have been shortlisted for The Independent Schools Awards for Student Careers.

“[The] outstanding Careers provision, led superbly by Clare Bailey is working harder than ever to ensure that students develop into well-rounded global citizens who are able to make the most of their own skills, in order to contribute positively to humanity and shape the future.”

Mrs Bailey said: “We pride ourselves on knowing the individual child at Wellington School and this is reflected in our outstanding careers provision from Nursery all the way through until Year 13 – tailoring our approach to each age group and each individual child.

“The Future Steps programme prepares students for life beyond school and 21st Century Life as they are given the tools, knowledge and skills to help them thrive. We do not have a ‘one size fits all’ approach, but offer each student an individualised programme, supporting them with whatever their aspirations may be.”

The Independent Schools of the Year 2025 is an awards programme designed to showcase schools’ success stories and celebrate the student experience they provide.

The programme - which is running for the ninth year - features 25 award categories with hundreds of schools from across the country submitting entries to each.

Dr Helen Wright, chair of the judging panel, said: “Independent schools across the world, it is clear, are working harder than ever to ensure that their students – and the whole community – will develop into well-rounded human global citizens who are able to make the most of their own skills, in order to contribute positively to humanity.”
