VISITORS are being invited to join a family-friendly summer funday on Sunday (July 19) to help raise vital funds for the more than 300 animals in the care of Ferne Animal Sanctuary, on the Blackdown Hills.
The event is taking place from 10 am to 4 pm on the sanctuary’s 72-acre site and will include a range of activities for all ages, from classic countryside fun to adventurous new experiences.
Visitors can take part in welly wanging, follow a QR code treasure hunt around the sanctuary, and try their luck at ‘name the bear’ to be in with a chance of taking home a cuddly new friend.
The on-site Perdida Café will also be open throughout the day, serving lunches, drinks, cakes, and snacks, offering visitors a place to relax between activities.
Axe Nomads will also be joining the Ferne team for the day, offering pre-bookable axe throwing sessions at 11 am and 12 noon.
The coached sessions will include safety guidance, competitive games, professional targets, and a variety of high-quality axes, giving visitors an opportunity to try something memorable in a safe and supported setting.
Ferne corporate and events officer Amy Lawrence said: “Our summer fun day is a brilliant opportunity for families, friends, and supporters to spend time together, enjoy the sanctuary, and help raise funds for the animals who rely on our care.
“Every ticket helps to support Ferne’s ongoing work.
“As a non-Government funded charity, events like this make a real difference and we are so grateful to everybody who comes along, gets involved, and supports the sanctuary.”
Pre-booked general admission tickets cost £6 for adults and £3.50 for children aged five to 15 years, with under-fives free, or full price on the day.
Tickets include access to the sanctuary for the day.
