He will explain their equipment and clothing, which likely included Wellington-made items.
The soldiers’ nickname derived from the name used by the Army in samples of official forms, ‘Thomas Atkins’.
Wellington’s local regiment at the time was the Somerset Light Infantry which later evolved into a constituent of The Rifles, which was awarded the freedom of the town last year.
Anybody will be welcome to attend the event, organised by Wellington Local History and Museum Society, starting at 7.30pm.
