DRESS rehearsals have taken place for a theatre production coming to Wellington next month which tells the story of Second World War British spy Odette Hallowes, who lived locally.

Bell which has seen one hundred years of town crying in Wellington‘A Little Green Leaf’ is a one-act play by Kimberly Denness-Thomas presented by Canadian theatre company Tumbleweeds Theatre Co.
Associate producer Louise Higham is a granddaughter of Odette.
The show uses shadows, light, puppets, and movement to explore peace, and the resilience of the human spirit.
It will be performed twice on September 12, in Court Fields School in the afternoon, and then in the evening in Wellington Arts Centre.
Wellington was included in the theatre’s tour dates after the company became aware of the town’s since-closed Odette’s Tearoom, which had a direct family connection with the spy.
