THE town council in Wellington is inviting all to participate in a new event.
A Jumble Trail is planned for May 24. A British take on a US yard sale, the town council hopes to help residents recycle and re-use items without them being thrown away.
Residents can sign up to the Wellington Jumble Trail to host a jumble stall in their front garden on May 24.
Once signed up to participate, residents will be asked to place their jumble outside their property on the day starting at 10 am. The trail will run until 4 pm.
With the registration fee of £4 entry fee per household they become part of the trial and will be included on a map printed especially for the event.
The idea for the jumble trail in Wellington isn’t new. Watchet held a successful Jumble Trail last year with more than 50 signing up to host a sale in their front garden. They will also be holding another event this year on May 30.
The trail gives residents the chance to stroll around their neighbourhood, meet local people, grab a bargain and sell some of their own unwanted items.
Jumble trails have been growing in popularity with many areas hosting trails to help promote a sense of community cohesion.
A spokesperson for the Wellington Town Council said: “This is new to us and we are very much still in the planning stages.
“Currently we have 20 households signed up for the trail and we think it will be a great way to see your neighbours, and maybe even host your own sale for charity, as your own discretion.
“Any money raised will be used to host the event and in the production of the Jumble Trail map.”
