A community-led project in Wiveliscombe has announced a line-up of events for this year’s Big Fundraising Week.
From Monday, June 23, until Saturday, June 29, Wivey Cares will be hosting a number of events and challenges to raise money to support its work improving the physical, metal and financial health and well-being of adult residents in ten local parishes, including Ashbrittle, Bathealton and Stawley.
Since its establishment seven years ago, the project has helped more than 600 clients. Currently, it supports 136 active clients, alongside running a weekly memory activity group with individuals with memory loss.
This year, Wivey Cares has been selected for the Big Give Small Charity Week 2025, with Big Give offering to match funding of up to £2,500. Through events and activities throughout the end-of-June week, the project hope to raise enough money to secure the match funding, to take home at least £5000.
Locals willing to support the fundraising effort can join area events, buy raffle tickets, bid for a lot in the online auction, or donate online.
On Wednesday, June 25, there will be a coffee morning at Springers, Kittisford; locals can win a fitbit by guessing the number of lengths swum at Wivey Pool between Monday, June 23, and Friday, June 27; dog owners can take their pets on a sponsored walk with prizes for the top three distances walked; and to close up the week, there will be a chance to enjoy food, music, challenges and a raffle draw at The Big Breakfast on Saturday, June 29.
Wivey Cares are also on the look out for additional volunteers to help during the campaign week, as well as for donations to the raffle and the online auction.
