Rebecca Pow MP has given a boost to the Wellington to Taunton Cycle Path campaign.

Seeking to broaden and deepen the commitment within the community for this project, Citizens Somerset’s Campaign Action Team is hosting a Stakeholder Conference at Wellington School on Friday, October 21.

And the Taunton Deane MP Ms Pow (pictured) will be attending the conference.

Citizens Somerset’s chairperson, John Haines, explains: “Of course, we were thrilled when at our Accountability Assembly in April, the new unitary authority for the county made a firm commitment to the start of the construction of a traffic-free cycle path between our two towns by 2025, but we are not complacent. We want to keep building support and involving more community groups in the project.”

Many different perspectives on the project from within the Wellington community will be represented at the conference, including those of Transition Town and the developers of the new commercial and industrial sites looking to provide safe, sustainable travel options for the workers.

Campaign coordinator, Chris Waddilove says of the event: “We are delighted that Rebecca is attending the conference. It will be very exciting to bring together our W2T campaign and the parliamentary petition she has been organising. It will be a real boost to the campaign and hopefully provide us with more funding options.”
