A ROW over the siting of a children's play area could see cash earmarked for Wellington being lost to Taunton if some local residents have their way.

Families in Wellington have until Friday to say whether they want a new £45,000 play area on land at Howard Road or at Roly Poly Green nearby.

Plans had been drawn up for the play area to be sited at Howard Road but some residents in the area have expressed concern, prompting proposals for an alternative site at Roly Poly Green.

Residents have one final chance to have their say by voting for their preferred site at two events being held at Howard Road and Roly Poly Green from 3.15pm-5pm on Friday, November 21.

But claims that the public consultation exercise mounted by Taunton Deane Borough Council is a "sham" and a "cynical ploy" by Conservative Parliamentary candidate Mark Formosa have been refuted by Wellington North Ward Cllr Andy Govier.
