FATHER Christmas is set to arrive at a farm shop near Wellington in a mystery mode of transport.

He will arrive outside of Rumwell Farm Shop at 9.30am on Sunday, December 7, to meet children waiting to welcome him before taking up residence in a cabin for the holiday season, with grottos set to take place at the shop throughout the month.

As guests wait for Father Christmas to arrive, festive music and Christmas carols will be playing outside for people to sing along with.

The café at the farm shop will remain open as usual to provide breakfast and beverages.

After arriving, a Christmas grotto will be held between 10am and 4pm. Similar grotto events will also take place at Rumwell Farm Shop between 9am and 5pm on Saturday, December 13, and between 9am and 4pm on Sunday, December 14.

Attendance at the arrival event will be free, but tickets will be on sale for the grotto, and Rumwell Farm Shop says it can only allow a maximum of four children with an appropriate adult.

Sophie Mitchell, partner at Rumwell Farm Shop, said: “It’s going to be a magical moment. We know the children who come to see him arrive will be absolutely thrilled.

“It’s going to be a fantastic morning for the whole family. Once he’s here, Santa will spend time chatting with everyone and his friendly elves will be handing out sweets to the children.

“We’re really hoping lots of people turn out to greet Father Christmas and help us kick off the countdown to Christmas. If anyone wants to make ‘hello Santa’ banners or flags at home to bring along, they’re more than welcome to do so.”

Rumwell Farm Shop is located on the A38 between Wellington and Taunton.
