TEN teams of young people are taking on a 48-hour film ‘improv’ challenge.

In scenes reminiscent from the classic gameshow ‘Whose Line Is It Anyway?’, budding cinephiles were today told they had two days to produce a short film which had to include a particular line of dialogue and a certain prop - which contestants were surprised to discover was today’s copy of the Wellington Weekly News.

The event is part of Wellington’s Film Festival, which kicks off proper for three days from Friday, April 19. The young filmmakers productions will be shown at a free to attend screening at the Arts Centre on Saturday April 20.

Debbie Richardson, creative director at Somerset Film, which is helping run the festival, encouraged local residents to come along to the event, where the best filmmakers will be declared the winners.

This year marks the second annual film festival for the town, which will see events take place across Wellington.
