A NUMBER of different venues will be used later this year for a planned film festival in Wellington.

Members of Wellington Town Council heard this month that the festival will be held from Friday, September 18, through to Sunday, September 20.

The council’s town centre working group has been planning the festival for many months but now it seems as if there is light at the end of the tunnel.

Films and documentaries will be shown at Wellesley Cinema, Odettes Café, Arts Centre, Wellington School and St John’s Church over the festival weekend.

Cllr Mark Lithgow, who has been a strong supporter of the festival project, told the council at its latest meeting that he was delighted it was going to become a reality.

“The film festival is coming along nicely,” he said. “It’s going to be happening this year! It seems a long time ago when we first started talking about it but it’s going to be a reality."
